Water-soluble quenchants include various polymers quenchants and inorganic salt quenchants, which can be applied to heat treatment processes such as overall quenching and carburizing quenching of various metal materials. Compared with mineral oil quenchants, their non-flammability and drastic reduction in fumes allow for safer and cleaner working environments. The flexibility of concentration enables the user to obtain quench rates as fast as or faster than water, slower than oil, or anywhere in between. Water-soluble quenching fluids are suitable for quenching processes of various materials and sizes, with uniform cooling speed.
